Ron Holgate, currently appearing as Buffalo Bill in Annie Get Your Gun, directs the "murder mystery/comedy" by Ludwig, who also wrote the libretto for Crazy For You. According to a company spokesperson, the play is set in the Connecticut Castle of famed actor William Gillette (the first Sherlock Holmes) on the night before a party in honor of Sarah Bernhardt.

Chris Kirk directed a version of Postmortem for the Little Theatre of Alexandria in Virginia three seasons back.

The week before Postmortem (July 26), Simon Levy's Act of Betrayal will be read. Jim Pelegano directs this look at Benedict Arnold's legacy both during the Revolution and in current politics.

Readings, which take place at 7:30 PM at 123 East 24th St., are free, but reservations -- (212) 979-5000 -- are necessary. -- By David Lefkowitz
