News Kendal Opens in London Amy's View Nov. 20 Peter Hall’s production of Amy’s View, starring Felicity Kendal, opens at London’s Garrick Theatre Nov. 20. The revival of David Hare’s play - the first in London since its National Theatre premiere in 1997 – started previews Nov. 14.

Kendal plays successful actress Esme, with Jenna Russell taking on the title role as Esme’s daughter.

Kendal is best known for her television roles in the “The Good Life” and, more recently, “Rosemary and Thyme.” Her award-winning stage career includes Ayckbourn’s The Norman Conquests, Frayn’s Clouds, Shaffer’s Amadeus, Stoppard’s Hapgood and Checkhov’s Ivanonv for which she won the Evening Standard Best Actress Award. Her previous appearance in the West End was in Hall’s 2003 production of Beckett’s Happy Days.

The role of Esme was created by Judi Dench when Amy’s View opened at the National before transferring to the Aldwych the following year.

Russell recently appeared as Dot in the acclaimed revival of Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park With George. Before that Russell's Sarah Brown was swept off her feet by Ewan McGregor’s Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls.

Amy's View also features Gawn Grainger (recently in Katie Mitchell’s production of The Seagull at the National), Ryan Kiggell (Valentine in Hall’s production of Shaw’s You Never Can Tell), Antonia Pemberton and Geoff Bretton. For more on Amy’s View, call (0)870 8901104.
