The Kennedy Center's "Broadway Up Close and Personal" series continues Sept. 20 with a chat with Tony Award-winning composer Jerry Herman.

"Celebrating Jerry Herman" will be presented at the Kennedy Center's Terrace Theater at 6 PM. ASCAP's Michael Kerker will lead the evening of stories and song with the legendary composer-lyricist. The running time is approximately 90 minutes. Next up in the series will be Annie composer Charles Strouse on May 14, 2008, also at 6 PM.

One of the theatre's most celebrated composers, Jerry Herman has written the scores for such Broadway musicals as Milk and Honey; Hello, Dolly!; Mame; Dear World; Mack & Mabel; The Grand Tour and La Cage aux Folles. He also contributed songs to A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine, and revues of his work include Jerry's Girls and An Evening with Jerry Herman. The songwriter won Tony Awards for his scores for Hello, Dolly! and La Cage aux Folles.
