Todd Kreidler will direct the production that will begin previews May 10 for a run through June 13. Fool for Love will officially open May 13.
True Colors artistic director Leon, who most recently staged the Broadway revival of Fences with Denzel Washington, will play Eddie, with Guy (Chicago, "A Different World") as May. Additional casting will be announced shortly.
Here's how True Colors bills the work: "A haunting story of obsession, love, denial and the relationship between two people who can’t live with or without each other. Inside the confines of a motel room, two estranged lovers revisit their shared history and reignite old rage. When they try to come to terms with their past the outcome is fascinating and shocking, funny and bitter. Sex, love, hate, and passion combine as they are faced with a choice: return to their combative relationship or try to live their lives alone."
Fool for Love was first seen Off-Broadway in 1983 with Ed Harris and Kathy Baker. Robert Altman directed the 1985 film that featured playwright Shepard opposite Kim Basinger.
