Leah Nanako Winkler's Kentucky officially opens Off-Broadway May 1 following previews that began April 20. The world-premiere production is presented by Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Radio Drama Network and Page Seventy-Three Productions.
In the new work, directed by Morgan Gould, Hiro is desperate to break up her sister’s wedding in their hometown of Kentucky. The journey brings her face to face with forgotten friends, long-lost lovers and the family she once fled.
Performances take place at EST’s Curt Dempster Theatre and are set to run through May 22.
The cast features Ako, Satomi Blair, Mikumari Caiyhe, Curran Connor, Merissa Czyz, Megan Hill, Sasha Diamond, Lynnette R. Freeman, Alex Grubbs, Marcia Haufrecht, Emily Kunkel, Jay Patterson, Ronald Alexander Peet, Samantha Sembler, Shannon Tyo and Amir Wachterman.
Kentucky features scenic design by Nick Francone, costume design by Suzanne Chesney, lighting design by Ryan Seelig, sound design by Shane Rettig, choreography by Katie Spelman and musical direction by Sariva Goetz. Joe Lankheet serves as production manager, and production stage manager is Eileen Lalley.
