News   Kerrigan and Lowdermilk Will Create a Brooklyn House Party in Immersive Musical The Bad Years

The Viewpoints Collective and JEM Theatricals will present workshop presentations of The Bad Years, an immersive house party musical by Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk, Jan. 28-Feb. 1 at Loft 172 in Brooklyn.

Jacob W. Patorti, artistic director of The Viewpoints Collective, will direct with choreography by Jennifer Jancuska (creative director, BC Beat) and music direction by Jeremy Robin Lyons. Charlie Rosen, who provided arrangements for Honeymoon in Vegas, is the music supervisor and arranger.

The cast includes Jane Bruce, Phoebe Dunn, Trent Hayward, Melissa Rose Hirsch, Avon Haughton, Celeste Rose, Katharine Lorraine, Justin Luciano, Anthony Sagaria, Joyah Love Spangler, Zachary Francis Stewart, Dan Tracy, Elanna White, Chloe Williamson and members of The Viewpoints Collective.

According to the producers, "The Bad Years is a high-octane house party where bacchanalian revelry gives way to true connection. The audience joins a cast of archetypal twenty-somethings as they flirt, fight, and flip-cup their way into adulthood. For some this is a shot of nostalgia, for others, a pint of catharsis. The audience moves freely throughout the party, choosing their own adventure and proving that The Bad Years make the best stories."

Kerrigan and Lowdermilk began developing The Bad Years as part of Theaterworks Silicon Valley's festival of new works. It has since been workshopped at The Goodspeed New Musicals Festival and, most recently, at CAP 21. Their other musicals include The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown and Henry & Mudge.

In 2013, the writing team joined forces with Evan Bernardin (Leonard Soloway Productions) and Zach Zamchick (Queen of the Night) to put an interactive spin on the project. This workshop will be the piece's first immersive staging.

Loft 172 is located at 172 Classon Avenue in Brooklyn. For more information and tickets, please visit TheViewpointsCollective.com/TheBadYears.
