Playwrights Amy Freed and Doug Wright were named 1995 winners of $10,000 Kesselring Prizes, given by The National Arts Club for outstanding play writing.. Playwright John Guare, dramaturg Anne Cattaneo and critic John Lahr were the judges. They selected Freed''s "The Psychic Life of Savages" and Wright''s "Quills." "Quills," based on the life of the Marquis de Sade, is scheduled to open in November at New York Theatre Workshop.
Previous winners have included Nicky Silver''s "Pterodactyls," Anna Deavere Smith''s "Fires in the Mirror" and Tony Kushner''s "Angels in America: Millennium Approaches."
