The Oscar and Tony winner will host the 2017 Tony Awards on June 11.

Oscar and Tony winner Kevin Spacey, who will host the 2017 Tony Awards June 11 at Radio City Music Hall, appeared on CBS This Morning to discuss his many upcoming projects.

Spacey, as previously reported, will return to the stage in an outdoor presentation of Clarence Darrow June 15 and 16 at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing, New York. Thea Sharrock will direct.

In the interview above, Spacey said Darrow was “an extraordinary figure in American life,” who managed to convince juries and judges the “issues and causes he fought for were right.” The critically acclaimed actor also joked that he is the “nerd host” of the Tony Awards who loves “the living theatre.”

The actor won Academy Awards for his performances in American Beauty and The Usual Suspects. He currently stars as Frank Underwood on the Netflix drama House of Cards, for which he received a Golden Globe Award and four Emmy nominations.

Spacey's numerous stage credits include a Tony-winning performance in Lost in Yonkers, as well as turns in The Iceman Cometh, A Moon for the Misbegotten, Long Day’s Journey Into Night, Hurlyburly, and Ghosts. He served as artistic director at the Old Vic from 2003 to 2015.
