There has been some confusion in the press about the dates he would be away from the show, with much of the media suggesting that Spacey would leave after June 18 and not return for the rest of the run.
The theatre's box office has confirmed that Spacey will be in the show between May 3 and June 18. He will then leave for filming, but will return on August 8 and remain in the show until the end of its scheduled run on Sept. 3.
Spacey's return revives the prospect of a transfer to another London theatre or to Broadway. The actor-director himself suggested earlier in the season that he had cleared space in his diary to allow for a limited transfer, and the involvement of the West End impresario Duncan C. Weldon, on board as co-producer, would certainly help to facilitate that.
Although there's still no word on who will replace Spacey during his time out, many other cast members have been confirmed. Jennifer Ehle co-stars as Tracy Lord. The rest of the cast includes D.W. Moffett, Oliver Cotton, Nicholas Le Prevost, Julia McKenzie, Lauren Ward, Richard Lintern and Damien Matthews. Jerry Zaks directs, with designs by John Lee Beatty.
