News Kid's Musical The Bully to Play Limited Off-Broadway Run The Vital Theatre Company will stage the John Gregor and David L. Williams musical The Bully for a limited engagement Off-Broadway beginning Sept. 12.

Troy Miller directs the musical that has a score by Gregor and a book by Williams. The Bully will run Saturdays through Oct. 12 at the Vital Theatre.

The cast will feature Josh Beyers, Patti Dematteo, Greg Kalafatas, Janelle Mims, Frank Paiva, Jay Paranada, Stephen Stocking, Abigail Taylor and Jessie Tendler.

"When a bus mix-up strands Lenny, the nerd, and Steve, the bully, at the wrong school, they both get picked on for being 'the new kids.' The boys have to work together to get back to their school and begin to learn that they might not be so different after all," read press notes for The Bully.

The Bully has costume design by Cherie Cunningham and set design by Mary Hamrick.

The Vital Theatre Company's children's programming will continue with Matthew Takes Mannahatta, featuring a book by Aurin Squire, lyrics by Sammy Buck, music by Daniel S. Acquisto and direction by Carlos Armesto (Oct. 17-Nov. 29). Following will be The Klezmer Nutcracker, with a book by Ellen Kushner, music by Shirim Klezmer and directed by Linda Key (Dec. 5-Jan. 3, 2010). And lastly, Uncle Pirate, featuring a book by Ben H. Winters, music and lyrics by Drew Fornarola with direction by Jeremy Dobrish (Jan. 16-Feb. 28, 2010). Tickets are available by visiting VitalTheatre or by phoning (212) 579-0528.
