The cast will also feature Maggie Wirth as Gertrude Stein, Penny Lynn White as Alice B. Toklas, Kim Rogers as Agatha Christie, Kristen Gehling as Mary and Morgan DeTogne as Bernadette. Dorothy Weems, who is best known for her one-woman play set in 1940's Tangier, will make her New York stage debut as Dorothy Parker.
The world premiere is described as such: "In this imagined meeting of the minds, Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas have invited playwright Lillian Hellman, satirist Dorothy Parker and novelist Agatha Christie to their country home in France on a cold March night in 1939. Tensions are high, the booze is flowing and Europe is on the brink of war. When a mysterious woman arrives and prompts their questions, the curious writers expose more of themselves than they've ever put on the page."
McCasland's last play, neat & tidy, premiered in spring 2012, and his Parisian adaptation of Alice in Wonderland enjoyed an extended run at the SoHo Playhouse in 2011.
Tickets for the intimate production ($18) are available by clicking here. Performances at Roy Arias Stage II Theatre will take place Wednesday through Saturday at 7 PM with a 2 PM matinee April 27.
