Classic Arts News Kimmel Center Extends Lease Agreements With Resident Companies The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia has signed agreements with six of its resident companies extending their tenancies at the complex. Kimmel Center officials announced the extensions yesterday.
The Philadelphia Chamber Music Society and American Theater Arts for Youth have both extended their residencies until 2012, while the Opera Company of Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania Ballet — both perform at the 149-year-old Academy of Music, which is now operated by the Kimmel Center — will remain resident until at least 2014.

The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia signed a five-year lease agreement beginning in 2007 and extending to 2012, while the modern dance company PHILADANCO executed last year a five-year agreement extending to 2010.

The best known of the Kimmel Center's resident companies, the Philadelphia Orchestra, doesn't need to renew just yet: its agreement runs through 2090.
