Broadway News Kinky Boots Celebrates 5 Years on Broadway April 4 The current cast includes David Cook, Wayne Brady, and Kirstin Maldonado, who has just extended her run in the Tony-winning musical.

Kinky Boots celebrates its five-year anniversary on Broadway April 4 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.

The winner of six 2013 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Kinky Boots features a Tony-winning score by Cyndi Lauper, a book by Tony winner Harvey Fierstein, and direction and choreography by Tony winner Jerry Mitchell.

Emmy winner Wayne Brady currently heads the cast as Lola, with American Idol winner David Cook as Charlie Price and Grammy winner Kirstin Maldonado as Lauren.

Maldonado, of the a cappella group Pentatonix, has extended her run through May 3. (Cook continues through May 5, and Brady plays his final performance April 26.)

Kinky Boots concerns Charlie Price, a young man who reluctantly takes over his family’s struggling shoe factory and is looking for a fresh idea. Charlie meets and finds inspiration in the drag queen Lola, and together they discover that it takes a good friend to make a great pair.
