Broadway actors Stephanie D'Abruzzo (Tony nominee for Avenue Q), Stanton Garr, Capathia Jenkins (Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me), Patti Perkins and David Sabella-Mills (Chicago) are featured in a company that also includes Jeanne Tinker and Robert Rokicki. Directed and choreographed by Scott Thompson, Kiss and Makeup plays the Lortel Aug. 20 at 6 PM, Aug. 22 at 7 PM, Aug. 23 at 10:45 PM, Aug. 24 at 1 PM and Aug. 25 at 2:30 PM. Kiss and Makeup, according to press notes, "is a musical rollercoaster that takes place on stage and off at a small community theater, where the rag-tag cast learns that the President of the United States is attending their premiere performance that very night. The news throws the leading lady into a tailspin, forcing the determined leading man (Sabella-Mills) to 'go on with the show' by playing both the male and female leads. Full of slamming doors, mistaken identities, fraying nerves and men in dresses, this farce is a modern twist on the golden-era musical!"
The musical was penned by Kevin Hammonds (book and lyrics) and Mark Weiser (music and lyrics).
The Lucille Lortel Theatre is located at 121 Christopher Street, between Bleecker and Hudson. Tickets, priced $15, are available by calling (212) 279-4488 or by visiting www.FringeNYC.org.
