Among the night's big winners were the musical KPOP, which took home three awards including Outstanding Musical, and School Girls; Or, the African Mean Girls Play and the Pulitzer-winning Cost of Living, which earned two wins each, including a tie for Outstanding Play.

KPOP, which had received the most nominations this year with nine, celebrated additional wins for its two stars: Ashley Park, who is Tony-nominated this year for her performance in Mean Girls, and Jason Tam. Cost of Living's Gregg Mozgala and School Girls' Mirirai Sithole also were also recognized for their performances.

Meanwhile, the New York Theatre Workshop presentation of Amy Herzog's Mary Jane was the recipient of three awards: Outstanding Lead Actress in a Play for Carrie Coon, Outstanding Director for Anne Kauffman, and Outstanding Sound Design for Leah Gelpe.

As previously announced, the ceremony also posthumously elected composer Michael Friedman onto the Playwrights’ Sidewalk in front of the Lucille Lortel Theatre and honored Tony-winning playwright and performer Eve Ensler (The Vagina Monologues) and the longstanding Off-Broadway company WP Theater.
