The NBC comedy "30 Rock" garnered the most nominations of any television program, a whopping 22 nominations.

Nominees in the Best Comedy Series category include "Entourage," "Family Guy," "Flight of the Conchords," "How I Met Your Mother," "The Office," "30 Rock" and "Weeds." Nominees for Best Drama Series are "Big Love," "Breaking Bad," "Damages," "Dexter," "House," "Lost" and "Mad Men."

The nominees for Outstanding Made For Television Movie include "Coco Chanel," "Grey Gardens," "Into the Storm," "Prayers for Bobby" and "Taking Chance." "Generation Kill" and "Little Dorrit" are the sole nominees for Outstanding Miniseries.

"The 62nd Annual Tony Awards" was Emmy-nominated in the Outstanding Special Class Programs category. Its competitors include "81st Annual Academy Awards," "Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony," "Carnegie Hall Opening Night 2008: A Celebration of Leonard Bernstein" and "George Carlin: The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize." The Tony Awards also picked up a nomination for Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control For A Miniseries, Movie Or A Special.

Nominees for Outstanding Variety, Music Or Comedy Special are "Chris Rock - Kill The Messenger," "Kathy Griffin: She'll Cut A Bitch," "Ricky Gervais: Out Of England," "The Kennedy Center Honors" and the live taping of Broadway's "Will Ferrell: You're Welcome America. A Final Night With George W. Bush." Ferrell was also nominated in the Outstanding Writing For A Variety, Music Or Comedy Special category. Alec Baldwin ("30 Rock"), Jemaine Clement ("Flight of the Conchords"), Tony Shalhoub ("Monk"), Jim Parsons ("The Big Bang Theory"), Steve Carell ("The Office") and Charlie Sheen ("Two And a Half Men") were nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series. Nominees for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series include Tina Fey ("30 Rock"), Christina Applegate ("Samantha Who?"), Julia Louis-Dreyfus ("The New Adventures of Old Christine"), Sarah Silverman ("The Sarah Silverman Program") , Toni Collette ("United States of Tara") and Mary-Louise Parker ("Weeds).

Those nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series are Bryan Cranston ("Breaking Bad"), Michael C. Hall ("Dexter"), Hugh Laurie ("House"), Gabriel Byrne ("In Treatment"), Jon Hamm ("Mad Men") and Simon Baker ("The Mentalist"). Nominees for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series comprise Sally Field ("Brothers & Sisters"), Glenn Close ("Damages"), Mariska Hargitay ("Law & Order: SVU"), Elisabeth Moss ("Mad Men"), Holly Hunter ("Saving Grace") and Kyra Sedgwick ("The Closer").

Nominees for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Miniseries Or A Movie include Keifer Sutherland ("24: Redemption"), Kevin Kline ("Cyrano de Bergerac"), Brendan Gleeson ("Into the Storm"), Sir Ian McKellen ("King Lear"), Kevin Bacon ("Taking Chance") and Kenneth Branagh ("Wallander: One Step Behind"). Those nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Miniseries Or A Movie include Chandra Wilson ("Accidental Friendship"), Shirley MacLaine ("Coco Chanel"), Drew Barrymore ("Grey Gardens"), Jessica Lange ("Grey Gardens") and Sigourney Weaver ("Prayers for Bobby").

In the supporting categories Neil Patrick Harris ("How I Met Your Mother") was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series in a field that also includes Tracy Morgan ("30 Rock"), Jack McBrayer ("30 Rock"), Kevin Dillon ("Entourage"), Rainn Wilson ("The Office") and Jon Cryer ("Two and a Half Men"). Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series nominees include Tony winners Jane Krakowski ("30 Rock") and Kristin Chenoweth ("Pushing Daisies") as well as Amy Poehler ("Saturday Night Live"), Kristin Wiig ("Saturday Night Live"), Vanessa Williams ("Ugly Betty") and Elizabeth Perkins ("Weeds"). William Shatner ("Boston Legal"), Christian Clemenson ("Boston Legal"), Aaron Paul ("Breaking Bad"), William Hurt ("Damages"), Michael Emerson ("Lost") and John Slattery ("Mad Men") were nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series. The Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series nominees are Cherry Jones ("24"), Rose Byrne ("Damages"), Sandra Oh ("Grey's Anatomy"), Dianne Wiest ("In Treatment") and Hope Davis ("In Treatment").

Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Miniseries Or A Movie nominees include Ken Howard ("Grey Gardens"), Len Cariou ("Into the Storm"), Tom Courtenay ("Little Dorrit"), Andy Serkis ("Little Dorrit") and Bob Newhart ("The Librarian: Curse of the Judas Chalice"). Those nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie are Jeanne Tripplehorn ("Grey Gardens"), Shohreh Aghdashloo ("House of Saddam"), Janet McTeer ("Into the Storm"), Cicely Tyson ("Relative Stranger") and Marcia Gay Harden ("The Courageous Heart Of Irena Sendler").

Other nominees of interest to theatre fans: Rob Ashford picked up a nomination for Outstanding Choreography for the "81st Annual Academy Awards"; Marty Callner received an Outstanding Directing For A Variety, Music Or Comedy Special nomination for "Will Ferrell: You're Welcome America. A Final Night With George W. Bush"; Steve Martin, Alan Alda and Beau Bridges were among those nominated in the Outstanding Guest Actor In A Comedy Series category; Edward Asner, Ted Danson, Jimmy Smits, Ernest Borgnine and Michael J. Fox picked up nominations in the Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series category; Tony winners Elaine Stritch and Christine Baranski were nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress In A Comedy Series; and Sharon Lawrence, Ellen Burstyn, Brenda Blethyn, Carol Burnett and CCH Pounder are the nominees in the Outstanding Guest Actress In A Drama Series category.

The 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards — directed by Glenn Weiss — will be presented Sept. 13 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on CBS Television beginning at 8 PM ET. Stage and screen star Neil Patrick Harris will host.
