The musical, which was penned by Richard M. Sherman, Milt Larsen and Joseph Hoffman — will play the Haugh PAC June 13-15 before arriving at the Granada Theatre in Santa Barbara, CA, June 20-23. The cast will feature Dale Kristien, Adam Wylie and Alan Rachins; John Vaughan and Greg Hinrichsen co-direct. Pazzazz! features music and lyrics by Oscar winner Sherman and Milt Larsen and a book by Larsen, Sherman and Joseph Hoffman. The creative team also includes Vaughan (choreography), Arlene Larsen (costume design), Dale Hindman (technical director and production manager), Douglas Graves (sound designer and sound engineer), Adam Blumenthal (lighting designer), Hoffman (set design), Richard Allen (orchestrations and musical direction) and Bruce Gordon (executive story editor).
The musical, according to press notes, is described as such: "Set in colorful New York during the turn of the last century – the story depicts a very young George M. Cohan (Adam Wylie) before he became the 'King of Broadway' and his relationship with two influential vaudeville comedians, whose theatre – The Weber and Fields Broadway Music Hall – was the home to the greatest stars of the day such as Lillian Russell (Dale Kristien) and where New York's social elite were to see or be seen. The success of the Music Hall fused the ruthless syndicate of the time with envy and a desire to put them out of business."
Milt Larsen and Arlene Larsen are executive producers of the new musical.
