Kristine Nielsen to Star in Not Waving Reading

News   Kristine Nielsen to Star in Not Waving Reading
Kristine Nielsen will star in a free staged reading of Not Waving, a new play by Ellen Melaver, for Square Peg Productions on March 26 at Center Stage.

The reading, directed by Douglas Mercer, will also feature Heidi Armbuster, Tim Spears, Josh Barrett, Greg Keller and Eleanor Handley.

Press notes describe the play as such: "It's a beautiful, sunny day at the beach. But Matt doesn't want to have fun, Patsy disapproves of Peter's fiance and his breakfast, Bo refuses to have sex, and the specter of a drowned man hangs over everyone. Are they all waving to each other, or drowning? And will they ever be ready to get back in the water?"

Nielsen is currently starring in Manhattan Theatre Club's production of Charles Busch's Our Leading Lady. Her other stage credits include Based on a Totally True Story, Miss Witherspoon, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Green Bird and Betty's Summer Vacation.

Ellen Melaver's full-length plays include Next Year in Manhattan, Martha (Avignon Festival, Teatronetto in Tel Aviv, Le Cirque Roman in Paris), The Baby & Brie, The Right Way to Sue (New Georges), The Glads (78th Street Theatre Lab), Inside Out (HERE) and Moses Supposes. She has been a staff writer on ABC's new show "What About Brian."

Mercer is the co-founder and artistic director of Square Peg Productions. The company was founded in 2006 to encourage emerging playwrights. Center Stage is located at 48 West 21st Street, 4th Floor. Reservations can be made by emailing For more information visit
