Presented as part of BSC's Musical Theatre Lab, the work has music by Zachary Redler, with book and lyrics by Sara Cooper. Joe Calarco (The Burnt Part Boys, The Mysteries of Harris Burdick) directs the production that will feature music direction by Vadim Feichtner. Memory Is the Mother of All Wisdom, according to BSC, "is a two-person comic tragedy about the troubled relationship of a woman who has just been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and her estranged daughter who moves back home to Brighton Beach to take care of her."
Drama Desk winner Cox (Footloose!, Baby, Oh Coward) and Kritzer (Rooms, A Catered Affair, Legally Blonde) comprise the two-person cast.
"Funny and heartbreaking. Moving in many unimaginable ways. This is a story of a mother and daughter trying gamely to hold on to what they remember of each other. It's amazing how painful hilarious can be," said BSC Musical Theatre Lab curator William Finn.
Presentations take place Sept. 5 and 6. BSC Stage 2 is located at 36 Linden Street in Pittsfield, MA. There is a $15 suggested donation; reservations can be made by calling (413) 236-8888.
