Rodriguez told Variety, "Since being diagnosed with breast cancer last year at age 30, I wholly relate to these feelings, both as a woman and an actress, and I can't wait to contribute to this already amazing show."

The first season finale airs tonight at 9 PM on ABC Family.

Since being diagnosed with stage 2B ductal carcinoma, Rodriguez decided to focus her efforts on the blogosphere and launched KrystaCouture.com. When things took off, she was asked to also blog for Cosmopolitan.

In her first interview, in which she spoke exclusively with Playbill.com, Rodriguez said, "I'm definitely not in a position where I could do eight shows a week right now, and it's pilot season right now, and I'm not participating this year at all, which is a first for me and a very labored decision and a thoughtful one. I really had my heart set on this blog, so I wanted to focus on that as much as I could and just felt like — as a person who is a very, very serious about my career and very forward-moving in that way — I wanted to give myself permission to heal and take jobs as I felt like I was able to do them, but not get myself in a situation where I was taking on too much, especially when the chemo started because this is a much more all-encompassing treatment.

"I just wanted to respect my body and respect that this is going to be temporary, and next year I will come back gun blazing with new boobs!"
