The show will play the New Victory Theatre on 42nd Street beginning April 28 and run through May 21. Tony Taccone directs. The work is adapted from Adolf Hoffmeister's libretto for the Krasa children's opera. Maurice Sendak ("Where the Wild Things Are") provides sets and costumes for the new take on the story of two children who try singing in town to help their ailing mother. The show was performed 55 times in the Terezin concentration camp during World War II. Brundibár is slang for bumblebee.

The show is slated to play Berkeley Rep this fall.

Kushner is the author of the plays Angels in America, Slavs!, Homebody, or Kabul and Caroline, or Change.
