Kyle Riabko, who replaced lead roles in Broadway’s Spring Awakening and Hair, continues his exploration of the works of composer Burt Bacharach with his cabaret show Bacharach Reimagined for two performances, September 29 and 30, at Joe’s Pub in New York City.
The show draws on Riabko’s musical revue Close to You: Bacharach Reimagined, which had a hit run in the West End after premiering at New York Theatre Workshop in 2014 under the title What's It All About?. The Joe’s Pub engagement is timed to celebrate the U.S. release of the original London cast recording on Ghostlight Records. Riabko performed the show at Joe’s Pub previously in 2016.
Accompanying himself on guitar, Riabko will perform his new arrangement of Bacharach’s pop hits including “Alfie,” “I Say A Little Prayer,” “Walk On By,” “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head,” and others. Working with his longtime lyricist Hal David, Bacharach supplied the score to the 1968 Broadway musical Promises, Promises, which included the song “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again” and the title tune.
In his teen years, Riabko released an album of original material and performed as an opening act for such artists as B.B. King, James Brown, John Mayer, Keb Mo, Jason Mraz, and Maroon 5.
Riabko is scheduled to return to Joe’s Pub November 2–4 with another in his series, Richard Rodgers Reimagined.
Performance times for Bacharach Reimagined are 9:30 PM September 29 and 7 PM September 30. Tickets cost $25 and can be ordered by clicking here. Joe’s Pub is located inside the Public Theatre complex, 425 Lafayette Street in the Greenwich Village section of Manhattan.
