Film and stage actress Kyra Sedgwick has joined the cast of the May 1 "Food For Thought" series.

Sedgwick will take part in the reading of John Guare's The Loveliest Afternoon of the Year and Day for Surprises at the National Arts Club (15 Gramercy Park South). Others participating in this season's series of afternoon readings — which are accompanied by a gourmet buffet lunch — include Hayley Mills, Treat Williams and Kathleen Chalfant.

Mills will perform Noël Coward's Fumed Oak on April 17 with a cast that also features Lynn Cohen and David Schramm. Kathleen Chalfant of Angels in America and Wit fame will take part in the reading of George Malko's Where, O Where on April 24, and Treat Williams will join former Company star Barbara Barrie for the staged reading of Arthur Miller's The Last Yankee on April 29.

Kyra Sedgwick made her professional acting debut at the age of 16 on the daytime serial "Another World." For her work in Broadway's Ah, Wilderness, she received a Theatre World Award, and her other stage credits includeTwelfth Night, Oleanna (Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award, Drama-Logue Award), Not Waving and Maids of Honour. Sedgwick, who is married to fellow actor Kevin Bacon, has also had a successful film career, including roles in Critical Car, Phenomenon, Something to Talk About, Singles, Mr. and Mrs. Bridge, Born on the Fourth of July, Lemon Sky and Heart & Souls.

"Food For Thought" readings begin at 1 PM, and immediately following each reading, audience members are invited to participate in a question-and answer session with the actors, playwright and director of that reading.
