Stage One will revive the musical Bridge to Terabithia Jan. 30, Feb. 12 and Feb. 21 in the Bomard Theater at the Kentucky Center for the Arts.
The story of the friendship that exists in the private world created by Jesse Aarons and his neighbor, Leslie Burke, Bridge to Terabithia was adapted by author Katherine Paterson from her 1977 Newberry Award winning novel. Stephanie Tolan and Steve Liebman share adaption credit with Liebman also providing the music. The piece first premiered at Stage One in 1990.
J. Daniel Herring directs Gabriel Morrow (Jesse Aarons), Katie Blackerby (Leslie Burke), Michelle Ludwig (May Belle Aarons), Debra Macut (Mrs. Aarons), Rick Long (Mr. Aarons), Karen Sabo (Brenda Aarons), Elizabeth Morton (Janice Avery), Shammen McCune (Miss Edmunds), Aaron Berger (Boy 1), Omar Morris (Boy 2) and Maggie the dog as Prince Terrien. Jeff Roth and Matt Sparks will alternate the role of Gary Fulcher, as will Blair Robertson and Kyra Weinberger with Girl 1 and Michelle Karem and Kim Magness with Girl 2.
The design team includes Tom Tutino (set), Donna E. Lawrence (costumes), Kathleen Kronauer (lighting and sound) and Kelly Wiegant (properties).
Scott Kasbaum musical directs. Leslie Kay Oberhausen is the stage manager. Tickets are $12.90 and available by calling (502) 584-7777.
