News La Jolla Names New President of Board of Trustees La Jolla Playhouse's board of trustees has elected San Diego attorney Theodore J. Cranston as its 2000 board president. Cranston, who also chairs the Playhouse's recently-announced $38 million capital campaign, joins six other prominent San Diegans who have just been elected to the Board. Three trustees are new and four are rejoining the board. The new members are Richard Bloch, Jeanne Jones and Steven Strauss. The former trustees who rejoin the board this year include Cranston, Arnold Ginnow, Joel O. Holliday and Gary L. Woliberg, Esq. The election of these new trustees for three-year terms brings the total number of elected board members to 37.

The election of these new trustees for three-year terms brings the total number of elected board members to 37.One of San Diego's leading attorneys, Cranston continues his long history of service to the Playhouse, having been a member of the Board from 1993 to 1998. In addition to his duties as chair of the Playhouse's capital campaign, Cranston has also previously served as chair of the board's nominating committee and as a member of the Executive Committee. He is also a past board member of The Salk Institute and Planned Parenthood. He and his wife Warrine are long-time Playhouse subscribers and generous campaign donors.
