La La Land Leads BAFTA Nominations With 11 Nods Feb. 12

Film & TV News   La La Land Leads BAFTA Nominations With 11 Nods Feb. 12

The Golden Globe-winning musical film also seems to have impressed the Brits.

Just weeks after sweeping all the Golden Globes Awards for which it was nominated, La La Land goes into the February 12 BAFTA Awards—the U.K.'s answer to the Oscars—with the most nominations, appearing in 11 categories, including Best Film.

The film, which has lyrics by the Broadway songwriting team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dear Evan Hansen), will compete for the top honor with two other Golden Globe nominees, Moonlight and Manchester By the Sea, plus Arrival and I, Daniel Blake.

Several American playwrights are nominated in screenwriting categories, including Kenneth Lonergan for Manchester By the Sea and Robert Schenkkan for co-writing Hacksaw Ridge.

Here is a full list of nominations for the awards, given by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. The BAFTAs will announce the winners in a ceremony on February 12, which begins in London at about 7 PM local time (2 PM ET). An edited version of the ceremony is scheduled to be broadcast on BBC1 starting at 9 PM local time (4 PM ET).
