News   LaBute Signed to Direct Two Feature Films for Screen Gems Playwright Neil LaBute, who will make his Broadway debut this sprinig with reasons to be pretty, will also flex his directorial muscles on film for Screen Gems.

Variety reports that LaBute has been signed to direct two films for Screen Gems including a remake of "Death at a Funeral." In addition to his work as a prolific playwright, LaBute has directed several films, including "Lakeview Terrace," "Nurse Betty" and his own works "The Shape of Things" and "Your Friends & Neighbors."

Actor Chris Rock, who appeared in "Nurse Betty," will reportedly join LaBute for the remake of the 2007 British film "Death at a Funeral." Also on LaBute's plate will be a new romantic comedy penned by Nina Coleman entitled "Here Comes the Sun."

LaBute's plays include The Mercy Seat, The Distance From Here, Fat Pig, In a Dark Dark House, Autobahn, bash: latter-day plays, The Shape of Things, and the films "In the Company of Men," "Possession" and "Wicker Man."
