The Apple Tree Theatre of Highland Park, IL, hosts award-winning actress Donna Blue Lachman in her one woman show THE THIRST: A Work for Jew and Clarinet, running at the Apple Tree on Tuesdays, Jan 21-Mar 11.
Playwright/director/actress/ teacher Lachman co-founded Chicago's Blue Rider Theatre Company, where she premiered THE THIRST, an amazing "quest for her Jewish heritage." On the pilgrimage, Lachman runs her grandfather's 16mm film from the 30's, plays klezmer music on her clarinet, and entertains with story telling and loving impersonations of her ancestors.
Lachman received Chicago's Joseph Jefferson Award for her performance as Frida Kahlo in her one woman show, and has performed her shows throughout the US, and in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and Berlin. She recently completed a run of Sherry Glaser's Family Secrets at Apple Tree.
Lachman plans to tour THE THIRST nationally in the spring. So far, performances are scheduled April 12 & 13 at the JCC in Louisville, KY (502) 459-0660; April 19 & 20 at the JCC in Rochester, NY (716) 461-2000, and a private booking at Temple Beth El in Northbrook, IL (June 1).
