Richard Dresser's outrageous comedy about marriage, Gun-Shy, will have its southern California premiere at the Laguna Playhouse May 25. The run is through June 25 and is the final offering of the Playhouse's 1999-2000 season. Richard Stein directs.
Gun-Shy was first seen at the 1997 Humana Festival in Louisville and then was produced in New York, where one critic described it as "a Private Lives of our time."
Two favorite Playhouse actors, JD Roberto and Tracy Lore, head the cast. Roberto created the role of Picasso in the Playhouse's recent production of Picasso at the Lapin Agile. Lore is making her third local appearance, having been seen in Working and Gunmetal Blues.
Others in the cast include Robert Lee Jacobs, Paul O'Brien and Stacy Solodkin. Stein, who is executive director of the Playhouse, has directed four other plays for the company.
Laguna Playhouse is located at 606 Laguna Canyon Road. For tickets and information call (949) 497-2787 or visit www.lagunaplayhouse.com -- By Willard Manus
