Three albums appeared on the chart for the first time this week. The soundtrack to the French film The Chorus, the story of a music teacher at a boy's boarding school, debuted at number 11. The young Chinese pianist Yundi Li's recording of Chopin Scherzi and Impromptus entered the chart at number 13. And the Kronos Quartet's Mugam Sayagi: Music of Franghiz Ali-Zadeh, with music (as well as an appearance on the piano) by the Azerbaijani composer, entered at number 15.
The popular medieval vocal group Anonymous 4's American Angels, which has spent 45 weeks in the top 15 and peaked at number one, re-entered the chart at number 14 after dropping off last week. The group's final album, The Origin of Fire, will be issued on February 8.
The top positions on the classical crossover chart were unchanged this week, with Josh Groban's Closer, in its 63rd week on the chart, at number one and Andrea Bocelli's Andrea at number two.
