The benefit for the Acting Company will be presented at 7 PM at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. Lansbury will be joined onstage by Tony Award winners Boyd Gaines and Harriet Harris as well as Lisa Banes and Lynn Collins.
Warner Shook directs the evening, which features Tom Fontana's adaptations of Dorothy Parker's works.
In a recent interview with Playbill.com, celebrated actress Lansbury said, "We're simply going to read some of [Dorothy Parker's] best-known and some of her not-so-well-known writings. They're a lovely mixed bag of gems. I think her writings are very rare and wonderful of that particular era, the 1930's and 40's. I had the luck of meeting her out here in Los Angeles when she was writing motion-picture scripts."
Perhaps best known her for work as TV sleuth Jessica Fletcher on "Murder, She Wrote," Angela Lansbury is one of the most celebrated stars of the Broadway stage. She received Tony Awards for her performances in Sweeney Todd, Gypsy, Dear World and Mame, and she also appeared on The Great White Way in Hotel Paradiso, A Taste of Honey, Anyone Can Whistle, The King and I and A Little Family Business. Her numerous film credits include "Gaslight," "The Picture of Dorian Gray" and "The Manchurian Candidate," all of which brought the actress Academy Award nominations.
