LOS ANGELES -- The cast for Patience, Gilbert and Sullivan's spoof of Victorian manners, has been announced by the Antaeus Company.

The comic opera, which opens Nov. 7 at Inside the Foot (formerly Taper, Too), will be performed by the following actors (in alphabetical order): John Apicella, Larry Braman, Anne Gee Byrd, Emily Chase, Kenneth Danziger, John DeMita, Nike Doukas, Terry J. Evans, Luck Hari, Stuart W. Howard, Jeremy Lawrence, Robert Machray, Anna Mathias, Anne McNaughton, Laura Otis, Melinda Peterson, Philip Proctor, Janellen Steininger, Karen Stone, Marcelo Tubert, Cheryl Tyre-Smith and Mark Valera.

Maryedith Burrell is the director, Jan Powell the musical director.

"In producing Patience ...Antaeus returns to the original spirit of the operetta, which was initially performed by comedic actors and music hall performers," said a company spokesperson. "Gilbert and Sullivan's works are not often produced in Los Angeles, and even more rarely presented by a theatre company, rather than a light opera company."

The Antaeus Company was formed in 1991 by a group of local actors and directors, who were united by their strong belief in the value of the classics. Formerly affiliated with the Mark Taper Forum, the company is now an independent membership group and is in the process of creating a classical studio playhouse at New Place, an industrial space in N. Hollywood.

Antaeus will have Patience through Dec. 20, 1998 at 2580 Cahuenga Blvd. Call (323) 660-TKTS.
