Bernadette has hers. Mandy has his. And now, Los Angeles' East West Players, which celebrates Asian Pacific Theatre, has its compact disc collection of songs of America's most celebrated musical theatre composer, Stephen Sondheim, sung by EWP's best talents. East West Overtures: EWP Sings Sondheim contains 15 songs from Pacific Overtures, Sweeney Todd, Merrily We Roll Along, Company, and Into the Woods; five of the musicals EWP has produced during its 31-year history. The interpretations of the songs vary in style from "classic Sondheim" to more individual and unique.

More than singers who have performed at EWP and many original cast members from EWP's Sondheim productions have come together to create the CD. EWP founding artistic director Mako reprises his Tony nominated role as the Reciter in Pacific Overtures. East West Overtures is available for purchase only through East West Players. The cost is $20 plus postage and handling. Proceeds from the sales of the discs will go to benefit EWP New Theatre Campaign.
