LOS ANGELES -- Bertolt Brecht & Kurt Weill's The Threepenny Opera will be the next production of Reprise! Broadway's Best in Concert season at UCLA's Freud Playhouse.

With a Sept. 9 opening, the musical will run for 14 performances, through Sunday, Sept. 20.

Directed by Glenn Casale with musical direction by Peter Martz, the production features Jonelle Allen, Theodore Bikel (as papa Peacham), Patrick Cassidy (as MacHeath), Carrie Hamilton, Marilynn Lovell and Ken Page (of Broadway's Cats). Greg Jbara (Damn Yankees) and Rachel York (City of Angels) were originally scheduled to do the show, but both had to leave for other projects (according to Jbara, York is set to go into a revamped The Scarlet Pimpernel on Broadway in October). Kay Cole is the choreographer.

Performances are Tuesday through Saturday 8 PM; Saturday and Sunday 2 PM. There will be a Sunday evening performance on Sept. 13 at 7 PM. Tickets are $45- $50. Call (310) 825-2101 or Ticketmaster. The Freud Playhouse is in Macgowan Hall on the UCLA campus.
