LOS ANGELES -- Romeo and Juliet, Lettice & Lovage, The Crucible and A Midsummer Night's Dream are the candles on the Theatricum Botanicum's 16th birthday cake.
The outdoor theatre, located in rustic Topanga Canyon, commences its annual summer repertory season on June 7 with Shakespeare's tragic tale of star-crossed lovers. Directed by Ellen Geer, Romeo and Juliet will run Sundays at 4 PM through Sept. 20.
Peter Shaffer's award-winning comedy Lettice & Lovage will be directed by Heidi Helen Davis and is scheduled to run Sunday evenings at 7.30 PM July 5-26 and Sat. eves at 8 PM beginning July 11.
Geer will also direct Arthur Miller's The Crucible which will play Sun. evs at 7.30 PM Aug. 2-Sept. 20 and Sun. matinees at 4 PM Aug. 8-29.
Performances of the Theatricum's perennial A Midsummer Night's Dream begin on Labor Day weekend and conclude Sept. 19. On Sun. Sept. 27 at 6 PM the Theatricum will present for one performance only The Woody Guthrie Show, a tribute to the late great folksinger.
The Theatricum also mounts Sunday morning Kid's Koncerts and an Alfresco Music Series during the summer months.
Tickets for all Theatricum plays are $17 or $12 for upper tier seating; $12 or $10 for seniors, students and Equity members. All seats $5 for children 6-12; children five and under, free.
