The Irish Repertory Theatre's popular staging of Jerome Kilty's Dear Liar, starring Marian Seldes and Donal Donnelly, will end its run on Sept. 17. Liar began on July 16 and was originally set to run through Aug. 29. However, it soon extended three weeks.

Liar tells of the 40-year romance between dramatist and critic George Bernard Shaw and actress Mrs. Patrick Campbell, who originated the role of Eliza Doolittle in Shaw's Pygmalion. The play is adapted from the two artists' long correspondence.

This spring, Seldes stepped into Lincoln Center Theater's production of Ring Round the Moon after Irene Worth was felled by a stroke. Seldes went on to play the entire run, earning a Tony nomination as featured actress in a play.

Playing opposite Seldes in Dear Liar is Irish actor Donal Donnelly (Dancing at Lughnasa). Charlotte Moore directs.
