Mentalist Marc Salem, who has been described as a "wizard" will close his interactive and intuitive Off-Broadway show at Feinstein's at the Regency on Sept. 2. Salem has performed at Feinstein's all summer since his opening on July 11.
Salem's show, Marc Salem's Mind Games and All That Jazz (featuring the jazz trio, The Vibrations) has done well, despite certain odds: The interactive Off-Broadway format caught on at Feinstein's even in the summer season in a club that is still in its first year. In many cases, the club reports, Salem has sold out and ticket demand has steadily increased.
Salem, a former New York University professor, has degrees from NYU and the University of Pennsylvania. He was a director of research at Sesame Street for ten years. His "mind games" involve audience participation and the revelation of hidden answers that come to Salem — but who knows how?
Salem's performance features the mentalist trying to divine personal information and the nature of randomly selected items from the audience.
Tickets are $40 with either dinner or a $35 minimum required. Salem plays each night at 8:30 PM through Sat. There are late shows at 11 PM Fri. - Sat. A $20 minimum applies at late shows, where a light supper menu is available. Feinstein's is located at 540 Park Avenue at 61 St. Tickets are available through TKTS or by calling (212) 339-4095. -- By Murdoch McBride
