The Toronto premiere of Janet Munsil's Emphysema (A Love Story) ends its scheduled run Oct. 25. The show began previews Sept. 23 for a Sept. 29 opening at the Tarragon Mainspace.
Munsil's play is based on an actual meeting between two sensualists: 53 year old English critic and writer Kenneth Tynan, and 71 year old screen actress Louise Brooks, best known for playing Lulu in Pabst's film classic, "Pandora's Box." Emphysema workshopped at the Belfry Thaetre and premiered at Alberta Theatre Projects.
Charmion King stars as Louise Brooks with Frank Moore (One-Eyed Kings) as Ken Tynan and Leah Pinsent (CBS-TV's "More Tears") as Lulu. Diana Leblanc directs.
Astrid Janson designed the set, Andrea Lundy, the lighting, and John Gzowski and Rick Sacks co-designed the sound. Kathyrn Davies stage manages.
