Last Chance to catch Pan Asian Repertory's New York premiere of the stage adaptation of Amy Tan's novel, "The Joy Luck Club," ending its scheduled run at the Theatre at St. Clement's May 15. Performances began April 22.

Reviews were good, so the company is hoping to bring the show back in the fall, either there or at another venue.

Adapted for the stage by Susan Kim, the play tells the story of Chinese immigrants mothers and their American-born daughters. The Joy Luck Club is Pan Asian's final production at St. Clement's, their home for the last 14 years. St. Clement's will continue to be a rental house, while Pan Asian will look for different digs.

The cast of Joy Luck features Tina Chen, Kati Kuroda, Ruth Zhang, Jo Yang, Fay Ann Lee, Ann Hu, Donna Leichenko, Scarlett Lam, Scott Wakefield, Carol Honda, Jodi Lin, Ben Lin, Tom Matsusaka, Les Mau, and Tran T. Thuc Hanh.

Tan's other books include "The Kitchen God's Wife" and "A Hundred Secret Senses." A film adaptation of "Joy Luck Club" received critical acclaim. Kim writes primarily for TV and as an associate director at PBS. Her previous plays include The Seventh Word, Rapid Eye Movement and Open Spaces, which won a Drama League Award for Outstanding New Play in 1988.
