Fans of the New Yorky lyrics of lyricist Adolph Green (On the Town) might be surprised to learn that his daughter, Amanda Green, is also songwriter, but with a country bent. And she's been a sold-out hit this month at the Laurie Beechman Theatre in New York City.

Green, whose mother is actress Phyllis Newman, plays the last date of her comic, country-flavored new act, Take It Like Amanda, March 27 at the Beechman at 407 W. 42nd St. The show is sold out, but there is a waiting list.

Green's comic performance style and original music and lyrics have been called a cross between Nashville and New York sophistication.

Among her past songs: "We Broke Up, I Broke Down," "Every Time a Friend Succeeds A Little Piece of Me Dies Inside," "Took a Lot of Money to Look This Cheap" and "The Best Piece of Ass in Savannah." Green was recently nominated for MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabaret) Awards in the categories of Special Musical Material (for "Every Time a Friend Succeeds") and Musical Comedy Performer.

She performed sellout shows March 6, 13 and 20 at the Beechman. Green is a member of The BMI-Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop and the Writer's Lab at Musical Theatre Works.

Performing with her are Tom Kitt on piano and Chris Huff on guitar.

Tickets are $15 plus a one-drink minimum. Call (212) 695-6909 for waiting list information.
