Ruth Williamson, recently seen in dual roles on Broadway in the Martin Short-Faith Prince revival of Little Me, will conclude her run in Edward Napier's The English Teachers at Off-Broadway's MCC Theater, when the play shutters on May 1. The production began previews April 7 and opened April 21.
Williamson plays Ruthie, a husband-hungry resident of a small West Virginia hamlet, circa 1960. Other characters in the play include Victoria, who has ambitions to be elected to the State House of Delegates; Polly, whose ambition is directed toward New York; and Libby, whose ambitions concern Bobby.
Also in the cast are Alma Cuervo, Jeffrey Donovan, Pat Nesbit, Sally Parrish and Amy Whitehouse. MCC executive director Robert LuPone directs.
