Until Oct. 4, former Miss America Lee Meriwether stars in Chicago's Theatre at the Center's production of Neil Simon's Barefoot in the Park. The show, directed by Gary Giocomo, began Sept. 10. Its official opening was Sept. 11.
Meriwether plays Mrs. Banks, mother of Corie Bratter, one half of a newly married couple starting out life in a sixth-floor, New York walk-up. Meriwether is currently playing Ruth Martin in the daytime soap "All My Children." Other TV credits include "Barnaby Jones" and "Mission: Impossible." Her stage experience includes turns in Love Letters, The King and I, Grandma Sylvia's Funeral and Follies.
Cindy McClure and Dan Sallinger plays the newlyweds in Barefoot, while Lee Pelty is their eccentric upstairs neighbor.
