Woody Guthrie's American Song , a musical revue of the famous folkie's tunes, will end its New York engagement Jan. 9, 1999.

Song, presented by the Melting Pot Theatre Company, started performances Dec. 2 and officially opened Dec. 6 at Theatre 3 (311 W. 43rd St.).

Guthrie, of course, was the father of modern American folk music, a singer who thrived during the Depression and whose influence can be found in everyone from Bob Dylan to Billy Bragg to Bruce Springsteen.

The revue was put together by Peter Glazer, son of Guthrie sideman Tom Glazer. Among the Guthrie songs featured in the production are "This Land Is Your Land," "Bound for Glory," "Grand Coulee Dam," and "New York Town.'

In the cast of American Song are Ernestine Jackson (Raisin ), David M. Lutken (The Will Roger Follies ), Sean McCourt (Titanic ), James J. Stein, Jr. and Lisa Asher. Glazer directs. For information call (212) 279-4200.
