Fans of The Last Session, Steve Schalchlin and Jim Brochu's 1997 Off-Broadway hit, can get a 12 song preview of their latest, The Big Voice, Aug. 12 at Laguna Playhouse. The two songwriters will present material from Voice alongside highlights from The Last Session. A musical comedy, The Big Voice is about a man who decides to test God and learns the limits of fear and faith. The Last Session also dealt with religion in musical form, as the story of an ex-rock musician who wants to record one last disc's worth of songs before he dies of AIDS unfolds against the prejudices of one of his hired singers, a confused young Christian.
