Entitled Latinologues Tu (2), Rick Najera's production will play Saturdays at 10 PM at the California venue. Cheech Marin directs.
Hayworth artistic director Gary Blumsack said in a statement, "We are thrilled to be bringing such a well-know comedy production to our facility. We are really looking forward to working together."
Latinologues arrived on Broadway after touring the country for several years. It won the 2004 Imagen Award for Best Live Theatrical Production. "It's comedy with a universal appeal with a Latin flavor," creator Najera said at the time of the Broadway run.
Najera, a comedy writer for such shows as "MAD TV" and "In Living Color," created Latinologues as a showcase for Latino talent. Since its inception, the production has employed more than 70 different actors, including Erik Estrada, Geraldo Rivera, Maria Conchita Alonso, Mario Lopez and Cristian De La Fuente. The work has been seen at South Coast Repertory Theater in Costa Mesa and the Victory Gardens Theater in Chicago as well as in San Diego, Los Angeles, Houston, Las Vegas and Miami.
The Hayworth Theatre is located at 2511 Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles, CA. Tickets, priced $25, are available by calling (323) 960-4442 or by visiting www.latinologues.net or www.thehayworth.com.
