News Laughter Masks the Tears of Current Events in Laughing Liberally, Mondays in NYC Laughing Liberally, the comedy show that combines standup, music and multi-media presentation, all geared to "save democracy one laugh at a time," will play Monday nights this summer at Off-Broadway's 45th Street Theatre.

Opening is July 24 following a July 17 preview. Performances continue to Aug. 28.

The current-events entertainment has played in New York at Town Hall, in Los Angeles at the Wadsworth Theater as well as engagements in Boston and Las Vegas. Co-founder and creative director Justin Krebs describes it this way: "A summer of smart, savvy, liberated humor. Howard Dean and Harry Reid laughed with us and right wing commentators attacked us. At least no one falls asleep."

Laughing Liberally features comics from Comedy Central, MTV, HBO, Air America and The Arab-American Comedy Festival. Included in the roster are Jim David ("Comedy Central Presents"), Julie Goldman (VH-1 & HBO's "Sopranos"), Dean Obeidallah (Air America Radio), Scott Blakeman ("Tough Crowd"), Lee Camp (E!), Negin Farsad (Sirius Radio), Katie Halper (Yearly Kos), Benari Poulten (U.S. Army), Harry Terjanian (MTV), Baratunde Thurston (HBO Comedy Festival), Elizabeth June (Carolines), Leighann Lord (Premium Blend) and others. Original satirical political music is provided by Jamie Jackson. Video materials are provided by Move On.Org and DNEXT.com.

Laughing Liberally is produced by Eric Krebs in association with Cosmopolity.org, a liberal activist organization.

The 45th Street Theatre is at 354 W. 45th Street east of Ninth Avenue. All performances are at 8 PM on Mondays. Tickets are $30 and $15 and may be purchased at (800) 838-3006 or through www.laughingliberally.com.
