News Laura Eason's The Adventures of Tom Sawyer Arrives in New York March 2 Tim McKiernan, Robbie Tann and Hayley Treider lead the cast of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Laura Eason's stage adaptation of Mark Twain's classic, which begins performances March 2 at the New Victory Theater.

The play premiered at Hartford Stage in 2010 and was later seen at the Actors Theatre of Louisville and The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis. Eason, a founding member of the Lookingglass Theatre, also penned and directed Around the World in 80 Days, which was seen in numerous regional engagements.

Jeremy B. Cohen, who helmed the Hartford premiere of Tom Sawyer, stages the latest production, which played the Kansas City Repertory Theatre earlier this winter prior to its New York arrival. Performances continue through March 11.

The cast includes McKiernan (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The History Boys) as Tom Sawyer, Tann (History of War) as Huckleberry Finn and Treider (Double Falsehood) as Becky Thatcher.

Also featured are Joseph Adams (Come Back Little Sheba) as Muff Potter, Justin Fuller (Orphans' Home Cycle) as Joe Harper, Michael Nichols (November, Exit the King) as Injun Joe/Minister/School Master, Nate Trinrud (Peter Pan) as Sid Sawyer/Doc Robinson and Nance Williamson (Cyrano, Henry IV) as Aunt Polly/Widow Douglas.

Designing the production are Daniel Ostling (set design), Lorraine Venberg (costume design), Robert Wierzel (lighting design), and Broken Chord's Daniel Baker and Aaron Meicht on sound design and original music. Tommy Rapley is fight-movement director.
