News Lauren Pritchard and Michel Kimmel's Bluebird, New Play with Songs, Will Debut at Joe's Pub Singer-songwriter Lauren Pritchard ( Spring Awakening) and writer Michel Kimmel (The Last Goodbye) have joined forces on the whiskey-soaked new play Bluebird, which will make its debut July 21 at Joe’s Pub.

Set in Pritchard’s home state of Tennessee, in Nashville’s Bluebird Café, the play looks at the darker side of country music and the musicians that create it. Show time is 9:30 PM.

The reading of this "play with songs" will be directed by JV Mercant.

Based on The Seagull, Kimmel describes his new work as "a Chekhov play, as seen through the bottom of a whiskey glass and sounding like '2 am at a back country roadhouse.' At The Bluebird, some people are looking for love, some people are looking for fame and everyone is looking for a drink."

"At the crossroads where chart-toppers become has-beens, and country hits are tested below the dim lights and sticky floor of the Bluebird," Kimmel and Pritchard’s play, according to press notes, "is a raw and acoustic look at a community of creatives, fueled on talent, passion and booze."

Tickets are $18 and are available by clicking here.
