News Laurence Fishburne Joins Cast of "Superman: Man of Steel" Tony Award winner Laurence Fishburne has signed on to play Daily Planet editor-in-chief Perry White in the upcoming "Superman" reboot, "Man of Steel," according to EW.com.

Fishburne's character has traditionally been played as the tough, yet fair-minded boss who relies on his reporters, Clark Kent and Lois Lane, to get the big scoop.

"Superman: Man of Steel" will be directed by Zack Snyder with a script by David Goyer. The film will also star Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Amy Adams ("Doubt") as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon (Off-Broadway's The Little Flower of East Orange) as General Zod, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent and Diane Lane (The Cherry Orchard) as Martha Kent.

Christopher Nolan produces the film that is set to begin production in the fall and will release June 14, 2013.

Fishburne won the Tony Award in 1992 for his performance in Two Trains Running and was nominated in 2008 for Thurgood. He has also been seen on Broadway in The Lion in Winter.
