PlayBlog Laurie Metcalf & French Stewart Take Voice Lessons Off-Broadway Laurie Metcalf, the Chicago actress who came back to Broadway this season — for nine performances of Neil Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs, as it turned out, but a much longer stay Off-Broadway in Sam Shepard's A Lie of the Mind — will play a self-deluded community-theatre actress in Justin Tanner's Voice Lessons for a ten-performance run (May 22-30) at The Studio at Theatre Row.

French Stewart ("Third Rock From the Sun") is her catatonically despairing vocal coach, and Maile Flanagan completes the cast. Bart DeLorenzo, who directed Metcalf in the Los Angeles production of the play, will helm it here. This version is produced by Todd Pate.
